DSDP operator and logging contractor: Scripps Institution of Oceanography
Hole: 468B
Leg: 63
Location: Patton Escarpment (NE Pacific)
Latitude: 32° 37.41' N
Longitude: 120° 6.55' W
Logging date: October 1978
Sea floor depth (drillers'): 1752 mbrf
Total penetration: 415.5 mbsf
Total core recovered: 104.58 m (30 % of cored section)
Oldest sediment cored: dolomitic claystone (Middle Miocene)
Lithologies: nannofossil and diatom ooze with intervals of sand, silt, and clay; diatomaceous and calcareous claystone; dolomitic claystone.
The logging data was recorded by Gearhart-Owen in their own format and subsequently translated into LIS format. The data were processed in November 2004 at the Borehole Research Group of the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.

Due to technical problems with the logging tools and the acquisition system, only the caliper log could be recorded. The depths in the table are for the processed log (after depth shift to the sea floor).
Depth shift to sea floor: The caliper log was shifted to the sea floor using the water depth given by the drillers (- 1752 m).
Hole diameter was the only log recorded. The hole varies from about 9.5 to 12 inches.
A Null value of -999.25 may replace invalid log values.
Additional information about the drilling and logging operation can be found in the Operations section of the Site Chapter in DSDP Initial Reports volume 63.
